Vasco holds a Degree in General Medicine from Eduardo Mondlane University, obtained in 2005. He earned his master’s degree in Psychiatry and Mental Health from the University of Porto, Brazil, in 2011, and became a certified Psychiatrist through the College of Psychiatry of the Order of Physicians of Mozambique in 2012. In 2021, he completed his PhD in Sciences from the Department of Psychiatry at the Federal University of São Paulo, Brazil.

Since 2023, Vasco has been an Affiliated Professor in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington. He has also been a University Lecturer at the Catholic University of Mozambique since 2012 and has served as a Mental Health Advisor for the Ministry of Health at the Provincial Health Directorate of Sofala since the same year. From 2012 to 2023, he was the Director of the Psychiatry Service at the Central Hospital of Beira, a quaternary hospital.

In 2020, Vasco was elected President of the National College of Psychiatry and Mental Health at the Order of Physicians of Mozambique (OrMM). Currently, he is the Director of the Center for Training and Health Research at the Central Hospital of Beira (CFPS_HCB) in Mozambique.
