Ekeminiabasi Eyita-Okon (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer at the Wits School of Governance. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in International Relations from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Dr Eyita-Okon’s research, teaching, and supervision interests lie in the political economy of security and development in Africa. She explores contemporary security challenges, including climate change and justice, the just (energy) transition, the crime-terrorism nexus and counter measures, particularly in relation to their broader implications for development. Through her work, she critically examines how these intersecting issues shape governance, stability, and economic progress across the African continent.
